Ultimately there are many doctrines under the heading of Christian Theology, and many of them will be discussed on this blog in both posts and dedicated pages. However, in class 101 we will only be dealing with the basics.
There are 5 basic doctrines or tenets found in the Bible. A change in any one of these doctrines distances you from true Biblical Christianity, although you may still have "saving faith" in Jesus Christ without agreeing or even knowing about all the tenets.
Other belief systems that claim to use The Bible as their authority, such as Mormonism and the Jehovah's Witnesses, all deviate from one or more of these 5 doctrines. And the more you disagree with these tenets, the closer you may find yourself locked outside the kingdom of God when Jesus returns.
Therefore it is important to be (shall I say?) dogmatic about them, and insist upon an accurate Biblical understanding of each topic.
The 5 Tenets of Christianity are:
These tenets are what we call the fundamentals of the faith. People who calls themselves "fundamentalists" usually favor them and dismiss the importance of any of the other doctrines such as how like how they baptize or what style of music they play or which translation of the Bible they favor.
But they also tell the story of the Bible by answering 5 questions:
Cults actively promote their disagreement with some of the tenets, but some are much more subtle in their advertising so as to trick the novice into thinking they are "Christian". So it's important for each believer to know and understand them to avoid heretical teachings.
The Apostle Paul warns us against beliefs that differ from the foundation he laid. And that's what these 5 tenets are, the foundation of the faith.
To be a Biblical Christian, you must believe in all 5 completely, as the Bible clearly teaches them, or it is proof that you do not believe in the basic teachings of the Bible. Period.

But they also tell the story of the Bible by answering 5 questions:
- Who is God?
- Who is Jesus?
- What did Jesus do?
- What are we to do?
- What is our hope for the future?

(Galatians 1:6-9)The bottom line in regards to these tenets is they are not up for debate.
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
